I had two people interviewing me, one who would be my direct report and the manager above them. To start the senior manager started a timer on his phone and went on about how he was busy, with back to back interviews and we had to make sure we wrapped up on time. The questions asked throughout were very odd. When I mentioned previously my teams did not have any sort of monetary incentive to achieve KPIs the senior manager scoffed at me and asked “How you can keep them motivated without bonuses? Doesn’t seem like you can”. When I explained how they were paid an above average salary, and how I worked to make the team culture inviting and friendly he continued to mention how “I don’t think that’s true” and continued to mention we obviously had some sort of incentives. The entire interview was incredibly unprofessional, with neither interviewer walking me out of the room at the end. Once it was over they said thank you and then ignored me to talk to each other, while I awkwardly left the room.
