If a client hates my work, I sit down and talk with my client and attempt to understand what their needs are (as I might have misunderstood them in the first place). This conversation would ideally be respectful on both sides and would come to a positive conclusion. If this isn't the case, I would bring another team member as an attempt to understand where they're coming from. This would again ideally be a respectful conversation. If even then, there is no outcome, I would suggest passing the project onto a different member of the team or terminating the contract.
