the textbook answer is easy, but the textbook SMART measures are not very good; useless audit work can result in spite of good SMART scores. The interviewer would have liked a short, concise answer rather than listen to me criticize SMART measures and talk about how difficult it is to measure audit department performance due to conflict of interest issues, etc. Keep it short and sweet, and stick to the establishment's script!
