To mark the Hindu festival of colours, symbolising the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil, our EC network organised a host of celebrations that have been taking place across the business. From delicious curry lunches to vibrant decorations and traditional Indian sweets, our offices have been buzzing with the spirit of Holi all week! Thank you to everyone who participated and supported our charity partner – together as one. Your contributions make a real difference! 💜
This week, Softcat’s EDN network has celebrated one of its flagship annual events, Neurodiversity Celebration Week (NCW). NCW represents a global initiative dedicated to challenging stereotypes related to neurological differences, to empower organisations to provide an equitable experience for their neurodivergent employees. At the heart of the EDN network's mission is the celebration of our differences - a focus that has been brought to life across the Softcat offices throughout this week. We were delighted to welcome ADHD and autistic creator, writer and consultant Ellie Middleton to speak with our teams about her personal experiences of a late diagnosis and next week we’ll be hearing from neuro-inclusivity expert Jess Meredith who will be speaking about neurodivergence within children, and how best to support them. Reflecting on the company-wide discussions that have taken place over the past few days, including a panel event where Softcat employees shared their own experiences of being neurodivergent and the strengths that it brings, it is evident that our joint efforts are key to further building the culture of inclusivity and appreciation for neurodiversity at Softcat, that we as a business hold in such high regard. Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their own stories, and contributed to a brilliant week of dialogue, celebrating the unique strengths that neurodiversity brings to Softcat - Your engagement and insights have been invaluable.
As we approach International Women's Day (IWD) Softcat is excited to share our commitment to 'Inspire Inclusion,' this year's IWD theme. Our goal is to create a more inclusive world for women in all aspects of life 💜 Softcat has made significant strides towards gender equality, with women now representing 35% of our workforce, and 36% of our Senior Leadership - a strong indicator of our commitment to diversity and inclusion. This IWD, we're hosting a series of sessions throughout the week, highlighting the importance of supporting and celebrating women, including; 🔎 An exploration of the challenges women face, with a focus on violence against women and girls. 🤝 The launch of our charity partnership with Smart Works, supporting women's confidence in the workforce. 🗣️ Workshops on unlocking your potential and the power of mentoring with Softcat’s Recruitment Manager, Elisha Kirkham. 🎉 A very special event, in partnership with Lenovo, featuring author, charity founder and television presenter, Katie Piper as our guest speaker! This series of activities, alongside the wider IWD celebrations taking place across all our offices, are designed to promote an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. We hope that professionals from every industry will come together for International Women's Day, in a similar celebration to #inspireInclusion, and contribute to our shared goal of a more inclusive world. #IWD2024 #InspireInclusion #Softcat
This February, Softcat proudly embraced LGBTQ+ History Month with an array of activities, under the banner of ‘Medicine #UnderTheScope’. We delved into the contributions of LGBTQ+ individuals in medicine, spotlighting both the achievements and the challenges they have faced. A highlight was our collaboration with the Terrence Higgins Trust in what was a brilliant session on the history and crucial work of THT, and the powerful stories shared by a 'Positive Voices' ambassador. We also shared insights from our own Pride Network and connected with students at National Student Pride, showcasing our commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion, and sharing our vision for an inclusive future. Huge thanks to the Pride network leads, Ben Mulford, Brett Johnstone, and Georgia Green, for their support and dedication to driving our LGBTQ+ celebrations and team-wide education. #LGBTQHistoryMonth #Pride #Inclusion #SoftcatPride
Last week we hosted our Apprentice Graduation Ceremony 🎓 During the awards ceremony, we heard from our very own CEO, Graham Charlton, who spoke about the importance of our apprenticeship program. We then heard from Softcat’s Louis Way who spoke about his journey from Apprentice to SDP Regional Manager. To end our awards ceremony, we had the Apprentice Choice Awards where we recognised and celebrated the achievements of our people. We want to say a huge congratulations to the managers who have supported their apprentices over the last 18 months, and THE CLASS OF 2023 who have worked so hard to get to where they are today 💜
