$23.00-25.00 an hour DOE
The Debbie Leraas Children’s Center (DLCC) of the Edmonds United Methodist Church (EUMC) offers a fully licensed Christian Preschool & Pre-K with full and half day options as well as before and after school care for children in kindergarten through grade 6 during the school year. In addition, we provide Preschool and Youth Summer Camp Programs during the summer. Since 1980, Children’s Center has offered a vibrant learning community dedicated to providing a nurturing, secure environment with enriching and developmentally appropriate experiences for the diverse population we serve. It is a place where each child's uniqueness is celebrated, with unconditional love and support, with strong emphasis placed on relationship-building, individual learning, child-centered curriculum, nature immersion, family engagement, play-based sensorial learning, and social and emotional development.
Position Summary. The SCHOOL-AGE CARE LEAD DIRECTOR
requires a warm, relational disposition; comprehensive knowledge and understanding of developmental stages of children and best practices in Early Childhood Education. The position of SCHOOL-AGE CARE LEAD is available beginning June 2023.
SCHEDULE:
· Year-round; including summer
- up to 40 hours/week
- This is a part-time, Monday-Friday position. The hours can vary between 6:00am-9:00am and/or 12:30pm-6:00pm during the school year. For break camps/summer day camp it varies Monday-Friday between 7:00am-5:00pm.
- The schedule is subject to change based upon programming needs and requirements
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee. Oversees active supervision of participants by managing the flow and implementation of the program
· Classroom Management. Address behavior via positive reinforcement
- Modeling. Model appropriate behavior and provides opportunities for social and emotional growth
- Collaboration. Collaborate with Children’s Center team members to ensure the success of participants
- Communication. Communicate with Children’s Center staff members, Edmonds United Methodist Church staff members, parents, and Edmonds Unified School District staff as needed to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach for student development and achievement.
· Planning. Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate enriching activities based on children’s needs and interests using provided materials. Build positive relationships with families and other staff.
- Preparation. Prepare materials and maintain an organized classroom setting. Ensure proper labelling and storing of classroom supplies.
- Classroom Clean Up. To assure safety, be sure center is free of clutter, debris, hazards, tools, and dangerous substances which could be swallowed or inhaled. Make sure playground is in good repair.
- Inventory Management. Monitor inventory and supplies; communicate with Center Director regarding needed supplies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have High School Diploma, GED, college transcripts or other secondary education
- Experience working with children between the ages of 5- 12 years old in a recreation or childcare setting
- Experience leading activities with a large group of children
- During programming, comply with all CDC guidelines related to COVID-19 including social distancing, wearing of a mask, ensure cleanliness of the work site
- If hired, obtain documentation of current First Aid/CPR certification, HIV/AIDS, blood-borne pathogens education and training, a valid Washington State Food Handlers permit, MMR vaccination record, have cleared a TB test; 30 hours STARS training, or documentation of exemption is highly preferred
- Successful completion of a WA State and Department of Children Youth and Families (DCYF) Portable Background Check (PBC) certificate.
- Covid-19 vaccination required
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Washington State Driver’s license or Washington State ID Required

- Must demonstrate the understanding and ability to meet the cultural, emotional, mental, physical, and social needs of children enrolled at DLCC.
- Experience developing a positive organizational culture with above average skills in: Emotional Intelligence, Conflict Resolution, Flexibility, and Adaptability,
- Must understand cultural relevancy and anti-bias practices.
