Handleman Company has just about run out of hits. Once one of the world's largest music distributors (annual sales routinely surpassed $1.2 billion), the company is another victim of the dramatic changes that have rocked the music industry in recent years. As a result, Handleman has exited the music distribution business in both North America and the UK. Handleman moved into video games through its purchase of game and accessory distributor Crave Entertainment in late 2005. It also operates a national in-store merchandising business called REPS LLC. Handleman, which was founded in 1934 by Philip Handleman, announced in mid-2008 that it plans to liquidate.
