Descrição OPTi has opted out of business -- sort of. The semiconductor design company, which once derived most of its sales from its core logic chipsets (used to control key internal functions of PCs and embedded applications), more recently relied on peripheral products for the bulk of its sales. OPTi stopped developing new core logic products, then announced plans to wind down its business and liquidate all of its assets. It postponed those plans, however, to pursue a strategy of licensing its semiconductor intellectual property and pursuing related patent infringement claims. As part of this plan, it sold its semiconductor production operations to an unaffiliated company called OPTi Technologies, Inc.
