Provena Health provides a plethora of health care services for its patrons in the Midwest. Provena operates six hospitals, more than two dozen primary care clinics, about 20 nursing homes and assisted living facilities, five home health agencies, and a range of other medical programs in northwestern and central Illinois (as well as one nursing home in northeastern Indiana). The system includes a staff of some 1,900 physicians and more than 1,500 beds. Provena is sponsored by Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart, Servants of the Holy Heart of Mary, and Sisters of Mercy of the Americas. Provena merged with Chicago-area hospital system Resurrection Health Care in 2011.
