Solidscape helps its customers give shape to their ideas. The company designs and manufactures rapid prototyping hardware and software used in the development of such products as jewelry, aerospace components, and sporting goods. Its products, also known as 3-D printers, are used to render models made with computer aided design software as physical objects. Solidscape also sells equipment tailored for the dental industry that produce wax versions of crowns, copings, and bridges. The company sells its products worldwide through resellers and distributors. Key clients have included the US Department of Health and Human Services. In 2011 Stratasys bought Solidscape for $38 million.
