Tech Lead Microservices Developer (Java/Springboot)

Makati City

What you will own

  • End-to-end delivery of sprint commitments — including code review, QA sign-off, and deployment to lower environments before stories are marked Done.
  • Technical direction within the agreed architecture and base patterns — and a written record of any deviation, with rationale and prior approval.
  • Low-level design and routine implementation decisions, made independently and communicated clearly.
  • Pre-implementation artefacts (pseudo-code, LLD walkthroughs) reviewed and signed off with client stakeholders before coding begins.
  • Weekly status reporting to client and MMT leadership — accurate, validated, and grounded in evidence.
  • Coaching and standards enforcement across the team.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years in software engineering with 3+ years leading teams of 5 or more in client-embedded delivery.
  • Hands-on track record with Kafka and/or Azure Event Hubs, Spring Boot 3.x, Java 17+, Redis, REST/microservices on Azure.
  • Direct exposure to core banking platforms — T24, Temenos, or equivalent — and an understanding of payments/banking domain concepts (ISO 20022 awareness is a plus).
  • Experience working onsite with banking or financial services clients in Southeast Asia.
  • You lead with the problem before the solution — when explaining a decision, you can state the constraint, the options considered, and the trade-off, in one paragraph.
  • You decide and document on LLD and trivial implementation questions; you escalate only what is genuinely cross-cutting or architectural, and you escalate with a recommendation, not a question.
  • You match solution complexity to requirement complexity — and can defend in writing why a simpler option would or would not work.
  • You maintain a written record of code reviews, technical decisions, and deviations from the agreed direction.
  • You deliver weekly technical plans and status updates on a predictable cadence, validated before submission.
  • You have worked through difficult client feedback before — including escalations — and can describe specifically what you changed in response.

Critical

  • Onsite presence at the client site in Manila is required. Candidates currently in the Philippines or willing to relocate immediately will be prioritised.
  • You must be eligible to work in the Philippines without sponsorship, or eligible under a 9(g) work permit that MMT can support.

Pay: Php130,000.00 - Php180,000.00 per month
