Contras
Codebase is hands down the worst I’ve seen in my 20 year career:
The “senior” developers have created significant technical debt through poor coding practices.
The application has become so dependent on their intimate knowledge of implementation details that replacing these developers would pose a major business risk. No new developer could easily understand or maintain the code.
Micromanagement to an insane level:
- Arbitrarily asking to restructure technical tasks without understanding their complexity or interdependencies
- Unilaterally requests to change project timelines and delivery dates
- Making decisions about technical work without sufficient understanding of the development process and its requirements
The weirdest task management I’ve ever seen:
- Requires manual maintenance of formatted text lists using specific color coding and formatting
- Demands constant manual editing, reordering, and copying and pasting of these lists across different chats
- Complex and arbitrary rules that even long-term employees don’t understand
This inefficient system creates unnecessary overhead and complexity for what should be a straightforward process, especially given the availability of modern project management tools.
Other downsides:
- Very bad compensation
- No benefits
- No holidays were observed with very minimal vacation days
- Incompetent management on all levels
