There was such a top down negative culture. Directors spying on staff, cameras/trackers everywhere, these things being inline with the nature of the business itself, but not nice to feel subjected to constant surveillance as an employee.
No real understanding of work life balance, would get a call at 8pm on a Friday after already doing 3.5 hours unpaid overtime only to be told to go to Cork or Galway that night. Middle managers toxic as they came up in that world, often heard "we all did it when we were on the tools" as if that excused the behavior.
Middle managers, so bad that one time the police needed to be called as a manager got into such a heated argument with an engineer that it almost came to a violent altercation outside the main office.
