Contras
Lack of Fair Promotion Opportunities -Despite handling responsibilities well, overlooked for advancement in favor of others with less relevant experience. Promotions often felt influenced by favoritism rather than merit. Racial Bias and Inequity -There were multiple instances where decisions—such as hiring, termination, and recognition—appeared to be influenced by race than performance or qualifications. This created a demotivating and unfair workplace culture for minority employees. Poor Recognition of Contributions 1Did not receive credit or recognition for my work. Recognition was instead given to others who joined later and took over the results of my efforts. Unfair Performance Appraisals -Performance ratings felt biased and disconnected from actual contributions. I received poor ratings during ‘a time’ despite working hard and making sacrifices (e.g., skipping medical leave and working during recovery time), which was deeply discouraging and unfair. Exploitation of Dedicated Employees -Employees who show initiative, multitask, and go beyond their role are often taken for granted. Rather than being rewarded, their extra effort can be used to benefit others without proper acknowledgment or progression. Unsupportive Management Changes -Leadership changes significantly impacted team morale and career development. Promises of career progression disappeared with the arrival of new management, and decisions were often not transparent. Toxic Internal Competition -Instead of encouraging collaboration, the environment sometimes felt politically charged, where credit-seeking and internal favoritism outweighed teamwork and integrity.
