Perks and employees benefits has honestly be the main thing I can think of.

Contras

Management in a technical department (Data & Strategy) does not possess the right technical skills or understanding, heavily relies on their reports to figure things out on their own with no proper guidances. To make matters worse upper management would play favouritism, it's demoralising to say the least. The worst thing was, in over 18 years of my work life, RACV was the first workplace where I experienced manager(s) that are so toxic and acted immorally towards their own staff. Advice to Management RACV offers a leadership course, but Management is absolutely shocking, very toxic, and immoral. The high turnover rate in RACV is highly likely due to bad managers, maybe there's more to be done than the course.

Prós

RACV pays well, offers generous employee discounts across its insurance and leisure products, and is financially stable with a genuine respect for work-life balance. As with most organisations, your experience will ultimately hinge on your division leader and direct manager. The majority of senior leaders are smart, respectful, and genuinely care about their teams — though a minority will put their own ambitions ahead of the people they're supposed to serve.

Contras

Like many large organisations, RACV's scale comes with real constraints. High overheads, accumulated tech debt, and rooms full of 50+ stakeholders can make innovation feel like swimming upstream. Decision-making is slow, and with senior leaders holding strong opinions, employees can find it easier to follow orders than fight for new ideas. Resources naturally flow toward the top organisational priorities — which means some parts of the business are left to make do with less.
