Barbara Hale-Carter is one of the most driven, hands-on, and pleasant employers I've ever had the pleasure of working for. She's kind and patient with the people she works with as well as those that come to her for guidance and help. The office in Escondido is small and quiet, with plenty of places to walk to during lunch and short breaks.
Contras
Training for this position is a bit unorthodox, and hard to follow if you've had no prior experience in this or a related industry. Though there is a need for computer proficiency, a lot of the work done at SDFA is on paper. Checklists, files, maps, etc. Everything has to be written out on a sheet of paper or its lost in a sea of deadlines and reports. Because of the small team, the connections between established employees and their clients is (at times) decades-long. As a newer team member, it might be difficult to form a rapport with some clients because of this.
