Prós

Good pay. You will gain a lot of experience quickly because the workload never seems to stop. Branch staff are hardworking and care deeply about serving the community.

Contras

Leadership communication is extremely limited and can feel like sending messages into the void. Responses from leadership are rare drops, and staff rarely receive meaningful engagement from the director. Management tends to micromanage day-to-day tasks while avoiding larger systemic issues. Workloads steadily increase without corresponding staffing or structural support. Staff concerns about burnout and operational problems often receive polite acknowledgment, only to be immediately ghosted. Leadership focus is often on internal “pet projects” rather than improving core services or supporting frontline staff. Long-term sustainability for staff wellbeing is not taken seriously.

Contras

Terrible CEO after Terrible CEO (Rivkah and Peter). Restructuring made things worse, employees and managers who create a hostile workspace face no real repercussions. Minimal/ no people of color in managerial positions. Full AND Part time LAs have minimal opportunities for advancement regardless of growing workload and responsibilities. Upper management acts at odds with the average library worker needs, going so far as to hire lawyers to keep any potential income increase or other support to a minimum. We've lost so many poc workers due to the hostility they've experienced and the "glass ceiling" that has resulted in an all white managerial staff. Managers deflect staff issues with managers as being individual problems, assuming the worst of the workers.
