There’s a store nearby with great food and drinks, essential for employees. The company really shows you what it’s like to work in the games industry in Brazil. They do an excellent job making employees feel like part of a family, even defending the indefensible for their sake. One positive aspect is the opportunity to perform duties beyond the defined scope of the role. The company sometimes does not fill all roles within a team, which creates opportunities for junior team members to shine and develop skills such as communication with client leadership, training teammates, team management, test planning, and documentation. Another positive aspect is that most of the tools used by the company are very basic. This stimulates creativity and problem-solving, as you learn how to come up with overly elaborate solutions to solve simple problems. Promotions occur periodically, which is positive; however, the process can take a considerable amount of time. The promotion criteria appear to emphasize internal connections over experience or performance, as individuals with less than six months at the company and no prior experience in the field have still advanced.
Contras
The experience resembles little more than an endurance test, centered on remaining long enough to claim industry experience on a résumé, despite limited professional growth beyond the skills introduced in the first three months. Operational gaps at the management level have translated into increased burden and instability for junior employees. The company demonstrates a toxic work environment marked by the isolation of employees and the public reprimanding of newcomers. Minor mistakes have been met with public and disproportionate reprimands, reflecting a lack of constructive feedback culture and, in some cases, leaving new employees distressed. Employees constantly try to undermine one another to impress management and long-time employees attempt to tarnish the image of those they dislike. False information has been allowed to circulate internally, damaging employees’ reputations without appropriate correction while discouraging the escalation of concerns. There have also been instances of bullying directed at employees with disabilities. Serious concerns raised through internal channels went unaddressed. This lack of response reflects insufficient institutional support for employees experiencing frustration or difficulties associated with the work environment. The company offers zero transparency to its employees, what happens internally is uncertain and the only way employees find out what’s going on is through gossip, which leads to multiple misunderstandings. There is a clear lack of understanding of employees’ professional goals, and project assignments are often poorly aligned. As a result, people become discouraged, and clients ultimately receive work that falls below expected standards. There have been promotions of individuals who committed legally questionable acts, as well as received formal warnings from the company. Diversity in roles above junior level is practically nonexistent. When opportunity to promote their own long-standing employees appeared, the company preferred to hire from competitors, all men. The company is not honest even with its clients about the state of the teams. It is the worst company I have worked for so far.
