A few weeks after I sent in my resume for this position, I was contacted by a recruiter for the company via email. It was very odd to get an email and not a phone call. The email essentially said that they were interested in talking with me further, even though the person who sent the email had a completely different role than the one I was applying for in their email. This was the first thing that made me a bit suspicious about their professionalism. All communication with the recruiter was by email. We settled on a time for an intro interview via a web meeting. I assumed that I'd be talking to the recruiter, but it ended up being me, the hiring manager and a colleague on her team. I was fine with that, but with the interview only being 30 minutes, I was concerned about having adequate time to talk about my experience, the role and my portfolio. During the interview, I was asked to tell them more about myself, which I did. But for such a high level role as Associate Director of UX, you'd think that they would want me to go through my portfolio or ask me questions about my experience. It was the weirdest casual discussion, where I just talked about my career for a bit before they asked me if I had any questions for them. I asked if they had received my portfolio and if they wanted to discuss anything and they were like "Yeah, we have it." Radio silence after that. I left the meeting feeling very confused about what this company was looking for and why they had even bothered to reach out to me. Of course, I never received a response afterwards about whether I was still in the running or not. No "thanks for talking with us" or anything. I feel like this company is very unprofessional in their dealings with candidates and it seems like they aren't on the ball with what they want. Additionally, their website looks very dated, and for a marketing agency, that's a red flag. Anyway, proceed with caution if you are asked to interview here.
