Entrevista
A friend had introduced me to an employee of A Piece of Pie. After meeting that employee for an informal conversation over coffee, he referred me to the HR department. I was asked to fill out a questionnaire in advance of the interview. This questionnaire was fairly basic, questions included ''What do you like most about innovation?'' and ''Name a book you would recommend and explain why''. Some of the questions returned during the interview. The interview lasted for well over 90 minutes, with a lot of focus on people skills and what they call ''business anthropology''. In general, the conversation was very pleasant.
Very strange: For a company that more or less claims to have a people and empathy focus (quote during the interview: ''To work here, you really have to understand people''), I was fairly surprised to find out that the communication post-interview was virtually non-existent. I received one vague, no rejection but also no definite green light, message. After that, radiosilence. Several emails asking for updates and feedback went unanswered. Later I heard through my friend that they thought that my profile was not 100% what they were looking for. Very unfriendly and even coward behaviour, especially for a company a company that says ''we understand people''.

Before the interview you have to do a couple of psychotechnical tests. After that, I didn't the first round out of three, where I had to analyse a video and come up with innovative solutions.

Appealing interview process! It was just a succession of missteps. I felt they had absolutely no clue about how to run a proper recruitment process.
Just to list a few 'errors':
1. They set up a meeting without giving me information at all so I had to chase them to get some basic answers: who would I be meeting? will it be face to face? where?
2. Meeting cancelled, interviewer is sick: I had to chase them weeks to set up another meeting.
3. I got an 'interview surprise' over the phone (at some point, they probably realised they needed to do a first screening of the candidate before issuing an invitation to meet).
4. I was asked to give my age and tell them whether I had 'full flexibility' with my workload (not sure where they were getting at here but hey!...).
5. The interviewer during the meeting was not the one expected.
6. They gave me 48h to do some tests at home, but sent me a negative answer for the position after 24h when I had only complete one of them... go and figure!!
My message to the company:
Maybe it's ok to have the PA running the interview process in small companies, but make sure to give a training or at least buy a good text book on recruitment to prepare. This process makes you look amateurs and gives a very bad impression of the company.
