Unfortunately, an unprofessional interview. The interview began with a manager in the department, who although apologized in advance, decided to eat during the interview. This is highly unprofessional. You should eat at home or in the lunchroom; definitely not in front of an interviewee. If you must, finish your meal in private and then begin the interview. Approximately 30 minutes into the interview, the HR rep joined and apologized for being late (traffic? a genuine emergency? just waking up late? who knows? no explanation was provided). The disturbing part is that the rep missed crucial parts of the interview. My advice - if you schedule an interview with a prospective employee, make sure you show up on time. If you cannot, have someone fill your spot and make sure to notify the person being interviewed in advance. The interview itself was reasonable. I was asked questions relating to my previous experience, specifically asked about preparation of communication-oriented PowerPoint presentations. They stressed the fact that work is strenuous and becomes hectic at times, allowing for little planning ahead, rather, rolling with the punches is the way things work. It was also evident that they are lacking internal data management methodology. Also, when asking about future positions within the company, it became clear that there is no such plan in place for this position – making it difficult to assess how much further ahead they are looking to work with potential hires. If work at the company and are reading this – please take these issues to heart and do a better job with the next candidate. It seems you work for a good company and it's shame to repeat these mistakes.
