      Entrevista

      First I received a brief screening at the hiring event I attended, wanted to know if you were available from 5am to 11pm 7 days a week to be considered for full time, also wanted to know if you were able to lift 45 pounds on a consistent basis. Oh and if you had a high school diploma or ged and were over 18, had to be 18 in order to use certain machinery. I was applying for the manager in training position in which you also has to be able to travel within I think it was 45 miles. After a couple weeks went by I received a phone call for my first interview. It was done by a district manager the one that I spoke to at the hiring event and a district manager in training. It was a traditional interview, why do you want to work here, what do you know about our company, can you take a drug test and have a background check done. They asked you again about being able to lift 45pounds and your availability. They also asked a few behavioural based questions example how did you go above and beyond for a customer, handled a dispute between employees, things like that. At close they told me they were conducting more interviews but if they wanted to proceed I would get a call from one of the other district managers for an interview. If she liked me then I would meet with the regional manager, if that goes well I would have to submit to background and drug testing. From first interview(hiring event) to start date took a while probably a month and a half.

      Application Form Interview process: Online assessment with scenario questions testing customer service judgement and basic numeracy. Then a recorded video interview with timed questions. Harder than expected due to short time limits and limited preparation.

How you overcame the situation and ensured the team remained motivated. 5. Please can you provide a specific example of a time when you challenged poor performance? Please include: How you approached this. What support you provided. How you motivated the team/individual and the outcome.

      The interview process felt impersonal and poorly structured. The first step required recording video responses to generic questions with very limited time, which felt rushed and disconnected. After advancing, I completed a phone interview with a Senior HR Representative who emphasized having over 20 years of retail experience. Unfortunately, the experience did not reflect that level of professionalism. The audio setup made it difficult to hear clearly, and the tone throughout the call came across as disengaged and occasionally condescending. Given the emphasis on tenure, I expected clearer communication and a more candidate-focused approach. When asking questions, responses were often vague or redirected back as questions, offering little clarity. The overall lack of structure, enthusiasm, and clear communication made this portion of the process unnecessarily uncomfortable. In contrast, I went in-person and spoke to the Management Team who were professional, engaging, and a complete turnaround. They were more aligned with the company’s brand and expectations. Overall, the HR interview stage did not represent the organization well and could discourage qualified candidates before they ever reach the final interview.

      The HR representative focused narrowly on one aspect of my background, and the conversation never progressed into situational or role-related questions. I was not asked about leadership style, work ethic, or how I would handle job-relevant scenarios, and the call concluded shortly after with a general prompt asking if I had any questions.
