I went to the Job Fair and was extremely prepared with a resume and job description- ready to shine. The recruiters were extremely rude and told me the same old same old: apply online. I submitted my resume via the university's job search site and was selected for an interview. I was very surprised.
I went to the information dinner and learned all about the company. I had a 9am interview and the recruiter didn't even show up until 10am. I jokingly said "Are we one time zone behind? It happens to me all the time when I'm traveling back and forth." He said "I wish that was the least of our problems." He asked me three questions: 1.) How much do you pay for school? 2.) What do you know about Aldi? 3.) and one other one.
I had an internship with a competing company and brought my capstone project with me. I told him that I changed the numbers to protect private, not published information and he said "So it you're like pro- X (the other company)." I said "No, I'm trying to protect the other company that entrusted me with private information." I then asked him why he recruited students at my university and he said "There's just more of you. Nothing really special."
He then said "Alright your resume speaks for itself. We'll be in touch." My interview was less than 15 minutes long and so were the other interviews with other candidates. The personnel at the Career Center were appalled. I got a rejection letter less than 3 hours later.
This was one of my top companies. I had extremely relevant experience to give to the company and had hours worth of research. They obviously didn't care about our students.

First round interview was s video interview with each question having a prerecorded question, then 30 seconds of prep time to answer the question with about 2 minutes of time. You sit at a device of your choosing and stare at yourself the entire time.
Communications started with 3rd party recruiter. Behavioral interview, asked about experience, leadership, communication abilities, weaknesses you have. Moved on to next round. In-person interview following this with Aldi executive. Similar format to initial interview, mainly behavioral, noticed a complete lack of organization.
Every question in 2nd round was a follow-up to the previous question. Having interviewed for many roles across many industries over the years, this interview was an interrogation, not a conversation. Experience led me to believe that Aldi, or this specific interviewer, struggles to see candidates for the District Manager role beyond 'assets'. Makes you wonder if corporate Aldi has a similar effect on other peoples souls. See for yourself!
