My initial experience was positive. Someone from the recruitment team was quick to contact me and set up an interview. There was a three stage process, the first two interviews were with business managers to discuss my suitability for the role. The questions were non-technical focussing on Alten (asking me who they are, what they do). The third interview was with the client. After the second stage I never heard back from Alten. I tried to make contact multiple times, but no feedback or rejection. I asked if there would be any short term opportunity to lead or manage a team as this relates directly to my experience. I also wanted to understand their progression pathways. I was told by one of the business managers that Alten have a complex structure, have many different processes and many tools. This, they said was a barrier for external hires to join Alten in a leadership or managerial position. The rationale being that it would be simply to complex for an external person to cope with. Instead, you need to join as an individual contributor and work your way up, first proving yourself for at least a year. I found this strange as it wouldn't make sense for someone with decades of experience. I also got the impression it would be difficult to get mich support from a line manager as most of the business managers line manage around 30 engineers each.
