The interview went for about an hour, consisting of the usual (strengths and weaknesses, background, travel experience, what would be expected in the role). The interviewers (the HR manager and the marketing manager) were friendly and I got the overall impression that it had gone well. I didn't hear anything for a while after that. After the first week of silence I assumed I wasn't getting the job and had moved on. Then I finally received an email weeks later which basically said that they'd hired internally and tacitly admitted that they'd planned to do that all along. I would be less annoyed if they hadn't wasted so much of my time in the process.
