      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fui entrevistado pela AT&T em abr. de 2017

      Entrevista

I applied online for the role. Within a week I received an email from the hiring manager about a phone interview. I was surprised since normally at large companies like AT&T you'll hear from recruiting first. The hiring manager and I had a great conversation, or so I thought. From there the hiring manager mentioned having a recruiter speak to me about next steps. Within a week a recruiter contacted me to have a brief "informal" chat where they proceeded to ask me questions about salary expectations, if I was interviewing elsewhere, why I'd left my previous job, what I was looking for in my next company and work environment, etc. It was brief, but felt a little awkward. As I was actively interviewing elsewhere, I figured I might not move forward based on that chat. But the next day the hiring manager contacted me via email and asked if I could come onsite to meet the team. The issue with this was I'm not local but was potentially travelling for onsite with another company in the same area. It felt as though the hiring manager was trying to use another company's generosity to get me in the area for their onsite. Eventually we discussed logistics AT&T could provide me with and the hiring manager stated the company would handle accommodations for an onsite, and that they'd be in touch with details. A day later the hiring manager was in touch but to inform me the logistics hadn't been finalized and maybe video conference would be best. They said they'd follow up early the next week and I informed them I was invited for more onsites elsewhere but wanted to continue in the the process with AT&T. We agreed to connect early that next week to iron out the logistics for the final interviews. I thought everything was good and that the strong interest was mutual. The next week came and went with no contact from the hiring manager. I even followed up by email to no avail. Because the other companies I was interviewing with remained forthcoming and moved me forward in their process, I didn't have much time to be upset by the sudden break in communication and inconsideration. To be told you're a strong candidate and be pursued for what I thought would be a great role with a good manager, is a bit of a disappointment. I have no idea what happened and it's going on 3 weeks without any word from that hiring manager - not even an auto-rejection email.
