There was an online application that required references who had to respond to an email. An employee later contacted me via phone for an initial interview. I was then asked to travel to the school in Brooklyn for an interview with the Principal and another employee. The process was rushed. I had to do a demo lesson in something like twenty minutes. The Principal observed but seemed very preoccupied. I then had a follow up interview with the Principal and another employee about how things went in the lesson. They also asked me some questions about my background in teaching. At some point, an employee took me on a tour of the school. The students seemed fine. This position was to be a midyear replacement. It seems like this school loses teachers regularly midyear. This is very alarming. They post for positions regularly in the midyear months of the academic year. They also seem to only hire people under the age of thirty who are attractive. I don't want to make things up, but ALL of the teachers except for the Principal were younger than thirty. My advice to management is to consider older and experienced candidates who are willing to stay long term and not bail midyear.

The interview process seemed to be quite simple and straight forward. I spoke with a recruiter after I applied and did a phone interview with them before setting up an interview for in person with the principal.
