I applied online and heard from the HR representative the very next day. She scheduled me for the oral board interview a couple of days later. The oral board interview was with 2 supervisors and I'm not sure what the other lady did - she might have been the supervisor's supervisor, I'm not sure. They asked a lot of questions - from a form - and they all wrote down all the answers. The next day I received an email saying that I was selected to move forward and that they had assigned me to a background investigator. There was a lot of information to put together for that meeting (with the background investigator): ID cards, college transcripts, college degree, birth certificate, marriage certificate, kids' birth certificates, pages and pages of detailed information on family, history of anything you have done wrong ever. And then I met with the background investigator about a week later to go over that. We went through all the paperwork. And then she took me down for fingerprints and scheduled my polygraph test. The polygraph test. Wow. It's a 5-hour ordeal. They interview you for 4 hours and then the actual lie detector test is less than an hour. The whole thing is somewhat uncomfortable. Having to talk about your sex life and any misdeeds you did when you were young and other deeply personal information. It's like one long therapy or confession session. It's draining. A week later I received a form letter via email: While we greatly appreciate the time you spent applying for this position, you have not been selected receive a firm employment offer. It's a long and arduous process for a low paying job and they don't tell you what knocked you out of contention.
