I was contacted for a phone interview which was scheduled to be 20-30 minutes. It was 2 minutes long. The only questions that were asked of me was where I saw the job opening and my expected pay range. When I discussed my pay, I stated my current offers and that I would like to get as close to that as possible. I asked what the pay scale was for the position I was applying for and he answered with the range. The HR immediately told me that he would not be able to get me close and ended the phone call stating “good luck.” I was open to discussing the benefits and offered pay but he didn’t allow the conversation to continue. I felt it was very unprofessional. I am very qualified for the position and was really looking forward to the opportunity to discuss the job opening. I say this not to necessarily complain, but to inform the company of how poorly I was treated and that I was let down on being immediately turned away when I was 100% open to lesser pay and just wanted to know more about what they offered.
