I had to contact HR myself because I couldn't believe what I was experiencing. HR called me back and in a very polite way got it across that I was too old for them to re-hire. She asked me about my work experience then said there was no way for her to look at my employee records because they were too old. I've repeatedly applied for purchasing positions (and even some subordinate to me previously) with no interest from hiring managers. Maybe I just though experience and a very successful work history would get some attention but I guess if you're over 40 (or even older like me) Abertsons-Safeway thinks you're useless.
