Within hours of applying, HR contacted me and the next day we spoke. The rep was pleasant and excited that I was such a great match for the new position. Then, we arranged a 45 minute video interview with the hiring manager and another team member within days. The quick turnaround was impressive and seemed promising! When the video interview began, it was revealed that only the hiring manager would be on, due to a conflict with the other individual. No problem. The first question the hiring manager asked was about the content of the job description and how well it was written. This was unusual since he did not give me his take on the role yet, but I responded with the standard answer and then asked him to share his perspective of the role and job description. He went on to spend an hour describing a company that is badly in need of the tools to get things done, has a very manual and tedious process, a department that is desperately trying to accomplish its objectives with limited resources and a role that was nothing like the job description. He also said the role was vacated by someone who had left out of frustration. (This was not what I had been told by HR, but ok). After talking an hour (15 minutes longer than allotted for the entire video) I learned that this was the second posting of the job and 2nd version of the jd, as they had not been able to fill the role with the first, poorly written posting, hence his first question to me regarding my feedback on the job description. At the one hour mark, he generously asked me to question him with whatever I wanted to know. It wound up being an hour and 15 minute video interview, which was disrespectful of my time, especially since I had essentially wasted an hour and 15 minutes, and even longer when I factor in prep time, for an interview for a job which did not at all match my expectations. Given my experience, I truly wonder why there are so many great reviews of this company.
