First you will receive an invitation for a video interview. The kind of video interview where you read the question on the screen, then you record your answer on camera.
If you are selected for the next portion of the interview process, then you will receive an invitation to a face to face interview AND a study guide for the American Airlines city codes test. Make sure you begin studying as soon as you receive your study guide. You will be tested on both domestic and international codes. There are only 75 questions on the test and I believe you have to make a 90% or better....The best way to study is to make flash cards and also create funny/silly words or phrases that correlate with the code.
On the day of the F2F interview, you will gather with the other applicants until the start of the presentation. I recommend you to be friendly and dont be scared to spark up a conversation with other applicants. It helps to loosen your nerves and you never know if you are being watched by the interviewers to see if you look like you can work well and be friendly with others.
A facilitator will then come and introduce their self and they will show a brief presentation on the life of an American Airlines Reservations Agent. After the presentation, you all will be taken to another room to take your city codes test on paper. You get 45minutes to take test but if you studied well, it will most likely take you 5-15 minutes. The people who passed will be broken into groups to do F2F panel interview. Dont be nervous. The interview questions are very easy situational questions just like the video interview, only you are in person. You need to answer the questions in 'STAR' format... (S-situation, T-task, A-action, R-result) But keep your answers brief. There are 5 interview questions. When you are doing a group interview, you dont always want to be the first to answer and you dont always want to be the last to answer.
The interviewers will then leave the room and deliberate. If they feel you are a good fit for the company, then you will be asked to stay for onsite drug screening, and onboarding paperwork. CONGRATS!!! You are officially a part of The American Airlines family :-)

I found the group interviews to be fun. Personality profiles were discovered through computer-based assessments. Your sales technique was tested in a group mock sales setting. Then a one-on-one personal interview. I apparently aced it and was offered a position the same day.
There was process of 3 interviews during recruitment and I received my offer within 1 week. The interview process was somewhat simple and most questions were customer service based. The last interview was a one on one with the general manager.

multiple stage interview but pretty easy. airport codes test where a good number of applicants were vetted by failing. it seemed if you passed the codes test you moved on. During training there are a bunch of tests that you have to pass to move forward. lengthy but not a difficult process.
