      Candidatura

Candidatei-me pessoalmente. Fui entrevistado pela American Express (Gurgaon, Haryana) em set. de 2025

      Entrevista

Analyst for the GCS division, 0-3 years workex could apply. No OA, reached out manager on linkedin, said he was hiring and i should apply, and i did. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st round (Manager, Phone call) Tell me about your best project. What are the challenges and limitations of your poject? how could you improve? how did you arrive at this metric in your project? is it a heuristic or a calculated number? explain the decision how you came to that heuristic, why x% why not (x+1)% Case: Jetha lal is falling behind others in his mobile shop sales. other sellers similar to him are fine. Was confused and didnt give a structured answer, said id track geospatial data, track volume of sales, seasonality. He said tell me something else, what are you missing? I said he hasnt partnered with amazon and blinkit while others have. Round 1 cleared. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Round 2 (Same Manager, Everything was asked) Sql: table: sales: cust_id int, annual_sales double , cust_mkt string Find 2nd highest annual spend customer per market with t1 as ( Select cust_id,cust_mkt, annual_sales, dense_rank() over(Partition by cust_mkt order by sales desc) as r From sales ) select cust_id, cust_mkt, annual_sales from t1 where r = 2 Puzzle: Frog population in a pond doubles everyday, reaches 100% by 10th day, population on nth day? Ans: 100*2^(n-10) Case: One of the MBB is our biggest client, but they arent using our card for air travel. Other MBB are doing fine. Why? Ans: This was th efirst case of my life so I fumbled pretty badly. Said the lounge services arent good, maybe they arent getting deployed on projects where more flying happens. He said i missed out on saying the word market share, and pointed that either the MBB has laid off its consultants or is using a competitor card (Chase, Capitol One). Round 2 cleared. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Round 3 (Director Round, Purely case round): Intro. Case 1: You are an est. brand trying to launch an automobile in india. lay down the plan. Ans: force fit the profitability framework, added value chain which he liked. He said what external out of reach factors would you consider, i said taxation, govt incentives (like ev is tax free rn), infrastructure, maintainance facilities. missed out on ethanol blending which he pointed out. I think you can use PESTLE framework here, i didnt use it. Case 2: You are an ecommerce app, where people are putting things in their cart but not checking out. Why? (Unconventional Case) Ans: very unstructured answer, said the ui ux might be bad, look at competitors, fix that and beated around the bush. I think Journey mapping would have worked here quite well. Round 3 cleared. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- 4th round (Director Round, Everything was asked) Introduce yourself SQL: Rate yourself in SQl out of 10. I said nobody can be perfect so deduct a point, and i dont have extensive experience so again deduct: 8/10 data: cnt, ogn, dest, intl_dom | table: T | basically the data is of count of trips from origin (DEL) to destn (BLR) and whether its international or domestic Find the top 3 flights by count in both international and domestic sectors My soln: with t1 as (select cnt, ogn, dest, intl_dom, rank() over(Partion by intl_dom order by cnt desc) as r from T ) select cnt, ogn, dest, intl_dom from t1 where r<=3 Guesstimate: How many coffee cups are drank in india My approach: split india into rural and urban, assume only urban population, assume north indian (chai is preferred over coffee), break population into working age and non working age, in non working age I have retired people and school and college kids, ignore elderly, focus on college students. for the working population, split by income level, ignore low middle/low class. split both working population (mid and high class) and college students acc to income based Households. assume more coffee more high class and college studetns, assume less coffee for mid class. Done. Case: You are a company trying to launch a tablet. Decide Price. Take any assumptions. My ans: assume startup, assume premium ipad competitor segment tablet, marketed towards college students as an alternative to startup. First of all ill look at market size, and then for a similar startup with a good track record, assume their market share to be our own for brevity of calculations to get a benchmark Supply side: what will be consider for financing the project (self, debt, equity)? Assumed debt. Went into value chain and told production and procurement and logistics need to be done with third party vendors. Wasted a bit of time in this. The moved to Sales and Marketing, told that this would be the real highlight of the company, they need to make use of Big Billion Days on amazon and flipkart, consider target demographics. Demand Side: Take into note the wallet of a college student, price it just 2k 3k below old ipads to maintain a small margin for the company, appear as a quality competitor to ipad and to continue this until we break even in lets say 2 or 3 years. Puzzle: 4l and 5l water jugs. infinite water supply, make minimum steps to fill 7l bucket. My ans: put 5l in bucket throw 4l out, 5l is already empty refill 5l pour 5l into 4l, 1l remaining in the 5l bucket pour that 1l into bucket (now we have 6 litres) throw 4l out, 5l is already empty refill 5l pour 5l into 4l, 1l remaining in the 5l bucket pour that 1l into bucket (now we have 7 litres) 9 steps, wasnt able to give him the number as time was running low (30 mins). I asked him does this work? He said yes, said this could be done in several ways, didnt seem too happy about me solving the question. Round 4 end.

      Entrevista

3 rounds, HR screening, managers interview, director interview, mostly on your experience and your competency. Some questions were repetitive. Took a few weeks in total. HR quite responsive. But feel like the whole process can be a bit faster.
