Entrevista
I had a telephone interview with HR and then with the hiring manager, which went exceptionally well. Afterwards, they flew me out to Thousand Oaks to interview with 4 Directors, a manager and the Executive Director (ED) of the group. They asked both situational (STAR) and background questions. I had lunch with the ED and that interview was very casual. On a scale of 0 (horrible) to 10 (outstanding) I felt like I fell in around a 7.5. I was a bit overqualified for the position. Oddly enough, I never heard back from the company regarding the position. One would think that they would at least send out a "thanks but we decided to go with someone else" email, but nope--nothing. At least they reimbursed me for my out of pocket costs to interview. They don't send a car to pick you up at the airport, so be prepared to pay approximately $150 out of pocket each way to travel between the airport and the company.

Tell me about a time when you had a conflict with someone--how did you handle it and what was the outcome? Tell me about your experience to date.
I went through three rounds of interviews for a Senior Manager role at Amgen. The first two rounds went well, and I was invited for the third round. However, after the final round, I didn’t receive any feedback for over a week. When I followed up, I was told that someone else had already been hired and their background check was in progress.
This was surprising and disappointing — if another candidate had already been selected and was undergoing background verification, there was no point in continuing to interview other candidates. It gives the impression of poor coordination or internal politics influencing the process.
Candidates invest significant time and effort in preparing for interviews, and the least an organization can do is ensure transparency and timely communication. I hope Amgen improves its hiring process and treats candidates with more respect and clarity in the future.

Related to management, technical and people leadership
I applied for a Senior Manager position at Amgen and went through three rounds of interviews. The entire interview process was extremely slow, with long gaps between each round and no proactive communication from the recruitment team.
Even after completing all three rounds, I did not receive any feedback. When I followed up after a week, I was informed that someone else had already been hired and their background check was in progress — which was surprising, as I had just attended my final round a week earlier.
This experience reflects a lack of transparency, coordination, and respect for candidates’ time. Communication before and after interviews was minimal, and there was no clarity or closure provided. I hope Amgen improves its hiring process to be more transparent, timely, and considerate toward candidates.
