Entrevista
I first had an informational interview with a member of the hiring team and subsequently applied for the position online. Following an initial call from the Amgen HR representative, I had a 30 minute phone interview with five members of the group I was applying to. The phone interview was approximately 10 minutes of questions regarding my technical background, 5 minutes of experiment design questions. The remaining 15 minutes was for me to ask questions about the position, job, etc. After several weeks, I was invited for a full day in-person interview. The interview required me to give a research presentation (45 minutes with 15 minutes for questions), and included 1:1 interviews (30 minutes each) with 10 different individuals at Amgen. The in-person interview was a full day and fairly difficult, but effective in terms of learning about Amgen and assessing fit. I received a verbal offer of employment (i.e., over the phone) several weeks later, followed by a written offer.

The most common questions I received were why I wanted to work at Amgen and in the particular group I applied to, and what my career goals were. Technical questions were specific to the job function and were clearly designed to assess the candidate's thinking process, rather than repertoire of knowledge.

Applied online at the company's website. The recruiter contacted me three days later via email. We set up a phone call which lasted about 30 minutes. Overall, it was a pleasant conversation.

The hiring process consisted of three rounds, but it felt rushed and lacked transparency. The HR phone screen and hiring manager call were scheduled back-to-back with no prior notice. After the final onsite interview, which required two days of travel and a six-hour on site interview. they ghosted me after two weeks. I get that no response usually means rejection, but failing to follow up after such an extensive interview process is just disrespectful.

30 minute call with hiring manager, on-site interview consisting of 1hr presentation and multiple 1-1's throughout the day (full day on-site), reference check was also conducted. Was a fair interview process, no surprises and people were very genuine.
