The interview wasn't difficult, it was most important that you communicated why exactly you wanted to work at Aperture, rather than any other foundation. The staff was very friendly and since it is an internship position, they were very accommodating in the interview.

The interview itself wasn't difficult if you could prove that you really wanted the internship. If you demonstrated passion for photography and the job you were going to do, then you will have a good chance of getting it. I was first declined and then accepted for the position, even though that particular position wasn't one of the "competitive" ones. The job descriptions matched pretty well with my actual responsibilities, so I can't say I was outright lied to. However, I asked specifically whether I could take on more responsibilities with the editorial staff (which is what I actually applied for), and they said yes but did not follow through. I asked several times over the course of the internship to do so and it just never happened.
