Sent by a recruiter, only made it to one round. They changed my interview time so i had to go with 4 hours notice (same day) bc it was the only time they could take me. I’m not sure what happened to the initial time but, o well. My real issue with this interview is that I am currently an “administrative assistant” but it clearly states on my resume that I also perform reception duties such as answering the phone and ordering office supplies etc. IN ADDITION to travel management, expenses, car services, etc. I am trying to leave a small firm of 25 (5 are assistants) so someone has to function as the receptionist as well as assistant and that happens to be me. The interviewer KNEW THIS about me - if they read my resume and the feedback I got for why they passed was that she felt the role would be “too much of a jump” from my current role seeing as I have reception duties... like then why did you bring me in. First of all, why you passed is precisely WHY I’m looking for a new position- to get rid of those duties and only focus on admin work... and this interviewer had a chance to read my resume before I had to take time off of work to come in for this interview that quite honestly, I didn’t need to go on because if she had just read my resume she could have passed because of the “reception” aspect of my current job. It’s so frustrating when you are brought in for a job interview and the reason they pass on you is information that was on your resume. It is a complete waste of time, especially when I can only take so much time out of the office for people who are serious about hiring me without raising red flags.. I always ask recruiters if I can do phone screens first because often times companies rule me out for reasons that they should not have even brought me in for an in person interview for if they read my resume.
