Oddly enough, I was asked via email to set an interview time several days ahead of the application period's closing deadline by the most senior staffer, early on a weekend morning. There wasn't a range of scheduling to choose from at first, requiring that I clarify my availability. Eventually a good date and time were settled upon. The interview was conducted with the initial contact and a consultant over Zoom. They fired off an expected range of questions, though it was strange to not have received the typical opportunity to "tell us about yourself" that allows a candidate to put their experience and interest into context. They were pleasant enough but obviously guarded. Along the way, confusion about the role was explained as the job title being established to attract institutional funding expertise at large, not grant writing skills exclusively. A vague explanation of whether they'd follow up after the interview was shared, along with their timeline for hiring. No writing sample was requested in advance or afterward. Obviously I was ghosted, having heard nothing further in the 2 weeks since.
