The first stage was a telephone interview that lasted about 40 minutes. I was asked questions based on the application I had submitted online with further questions leading on from that. After the telephone interview I was invited to an assessment centre. The day started with personal introductions followed by a group exercise. The group exercise involved a case study to decide whether or not to go ahead with an engineering project. This involved discussing the pros and cons of the project and deciding whether or not the project is in line with Arup's values. The next stage was an individual technical exercise test where you had to answer questions on one of two engineering drawings showing mechanical building services. You were advised to include sketches in the answers. We then had a presentation on Arup's starting package for graduate engineers followed by lunch. After lunch, we were each interviewed by two senior Arup engineers about the answers we gave to the technical exercise earlier followed by some questions about your application. The interview was between 45-60 minutes long.
