The panel was professional, welcoming, and clear about day-to-day duties, and HR communicated promptly at every stage. Unfortunately, the salary offered was significantly below the advertised range, which HR said was necessary to maintain internal equity. The position also came with a two-year probation—much longer than the six- to twelve-month periods common at other Alberta post-secondaries—and higher pension deductions that would further reduce take-home pay. Although the team impressed me, these compensation and policy differences ultimately led me to decline the offer.
