      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 5 semanas. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Auto/Mate Dealership Systems (Albany, NY).

      Entrevista

I applied for this position through Glassdoor and was sent a java assessment to be completed. Next, I was asked to complete a personality test and conduct an interview with two Senior Developers. Finally, I had an in person interview with the same developers. Questions ranged from previous experience and specific details about previous projects, java questions, basic data structures and algorithms, testing network issues, and system design. Overall, everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Every interview was to the point and a positive experience. One of the best interview processes I've been a part of to date. The questions asked were somewhat difficult and in depth, but overall meaningful. All questions asked will have some relevance to real world software development.

      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. O processo levou 2 meses. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Auto/Mate Dealership Systems.

      Entrevista

The interview process is reasonably rigorous, especially for a company the size of Auto/Mate. 1) Contacted by Laura, an HR representative, for a phone screening. 2) Given a written Java test to be returned in a timely manner. 3) Did a technical phone interview with a senior developer. He asked basic Java questions: difference between classes and objects, explain what static means, some big O notation questions, some *nix scripting questions. How would you implement a file system in Java. 4) An in-person interview with Laura. Basic behavioral questions. "Tell me about yourself," "how did you end up here", "explain why your experience is relevant to this job", "what is a difficult situation that you have overcome"...questions like that. 5) Called back several days later to take a personality test online. 6) Called back several days after the test submission to schedule the second in-person interview, which was with the director of Human Resources and two development managers. The first interview, with the HR director, was very similar to that experience with Laura. Same types of questions, perhaps a bit more detail-oriented and he asked to address specific concerns (I presume) they had about me. After that, had a two-on-one interview with two of the development managers. This section was a bit more technical, but none of the questions were difficult. I think I was asked how I would remove duplicates from an array. Then some Java specific things. Performance issues related to duplicate removing algorithm. 7) Was called by Laura later that day (or the next day) just following up and saying I should know something within two weeks. 8) Almost 2 weeks later I was offered a job.

      Entrevista

There were two phone interviews, one with Laura (she's very nice). If they like you, you'll get a java assessment along with an online personality test(1 hour long). There is then an in person interview that's 2.5 hours long. You'll have 3 separate interviews within that 2.5 hours. The first is with Laura about your experience and questions about how to respond to situations in the work environment. Then with the human resource guy(he's nice too). You'll talk about your experience and your resume again. Then you'll interview with two of the software project managers(they're nice but more quiet and firm). Again, they'll also ask about your experience. They will hand you a one page java program and ask you to explain. Then ask you a few questions about it(What you would change to it if a client wanted you to add functionality). For that, make sure your good with lists, maps and INTERFACES *wink wink*. They will also ask you about SQL. You'll be handed a relational diagram and you'll be asked questions. Here's the bad part after you leave the interview. They wont give you any feedback if they don't want you. My friend also applied a year or two ago(didn't get the in person interview but did have the phone interview), and got no response. I hope this helps you a little. It was an easy going process, don't worry and you'll be just fine.
