I applied for the Director of Engineering role posted publicly. The HR person setup an interview call with the GM. The interview questions were targeted towards a Program Manager role, and I answered honestly but was confused. Afterwards in email the HR person said they would do a second interview and asked about salary requested, then a second email asked if I would consider a PM role. I emphasized that I did not apply for PM. A few days later I received an email saying they chose an internal candidate for Dir of Eng.

I interviewed with an HR rep by phone first then came in for a face to face interview with the GM and other members of the management team. After the interview, they completed a background and reference check then called to offer me the position.
