The interview process at AVATAR Partners started out as fairly standard—a video call following a few message exchanges on Indeed after I applied. However, things took a turn when I realized the person interviewing me wasn’t actually part of the company but rather a "close friend of the founder."
The interviewer claimed to have the same level of experience as I do in the exact field the role was for, which made for a strong conversation. Following that, I went above and beyond, delivering a detailed follow-up within a couple of days. Despite sending it to two HR coordinators and the interviewer, I received no acknowledgment, feedback, or response—not even after following up again over a week and a half later to check on next steps.
In an effort to demonstrate my expertise and enthusiasm, I even took the initiative to develop a comprehensive demand generation plan—ironically, the very task the interviewer cited as the most important and challenging aspect of the role. Given our great conversation and my proactive approach, I had every reason to believe I would move forward to the next round, which was supposed to be a conversation with the founder. Instead, after waiting for weeks with no response, I finally received an impersonal, auto-generated rejection email.
Rejection is one thing, but after a live interview and clear effort on my part, the complete lack of professionalism and courtesy in their communication speaks volumes. Automating a rejection after such an involved process? Disrespectful at best. I would strongly caution others about investing too much time or effort here.

One of the main things they emphasized was the need for a strong demand generation strategy. The interviewer specifically mentioned that developing and executing a demand gen plan would be the most important and challenging aspect of the role. Ironically, despite me proactively delivering a comprehensive short- and long-term plan to showcase my expertise, they never acknowledged it—nor did they bother to follow up after our initial conversation.

Applied on LinkedIn because the job posting said Senior Sales Executive - Digital Twin which is my sweet spot. The first interview was with the he CEO who of you look at interviews she had in the past, was really stuck on inequality in the workplace. I can tell you that the questions she asked me we just to get information on my prospects and accounts I am working with. If you look up her reviews on Indeed from former employees it will tell you everything you need to know about working with this company. I did it so that first because I was actually busy meeting a deadline on a Digital Twin project I am overseeing, and this interview actually took a lot of time away from me for her ridiculous fishing expedition to get info on my projects. I told her I have a project I’m doing at the DOD and she pressed me for contact info, who does that in an interview? Plus their website does not even mention digital twin, so I asked her about that. Seemed to hit a nerve with that question. She also told me that she had another sales rep that she hired in October 2023 and he already has a pipeline of $120 million dollars with a $30 million dollar target. If that’s the case what does she need with me and the $1 million dollar quota for the position. That comment was just to make the interviewee feel small, which is exactly her own def esteem projecting in an interview. Stay away from this company if you want to have a career.

How many of your contacts and prospects can you bring over to our company? How big is your Rolodex? Can you bring over business in the first 90 days?

Made it through 3 rounds of interviews to the final stages. Met with President and Vice President in the first interview. CEO in second and all three in the third. While I was not selected in the end, I never felt like my time was being wasted. All three interviews we positive experiences. After the third interview they made their decision quickly and informed my with a personal phone call. Overall I appreciated the opportunity to interview for the role and understand why they chose a different applicant.
