      Candidatura

Candidatei-me online. Fiz uma entrevista na empresa Azure Marketing (Chicago, IL).

      Entrevista

They call you in for a 15 minute preliminary interview and then bring you back the next day for second and third rounds. There were about 10 other people being interviewed as well and on the second day the room was packed. I went out to a coffee shop with an account executive and she gave me a presentation on the company and said there would be a quiz afterward. The quiz was easy to pass and I was offered the position. It should've been a red flag that they were really hyping me up and said I'd impressed them when I hadn't said much but they made the job seem a lot more professional/dignified than it actually is. They say they specialize in direct marketing like trade shows and events but in reality they are the people who harass you on the sidewalk to get you to donate money or sign up for some service. What they don't tell you is this: they do not offer benefits or paid time off, you will likely make about $360/week for the first month or so until you get good enough at getting people on the street to donate, you will be working a 50+ hour work week with only one day off (yes you work Saturdays), and the "field" they are talking about is not events or trade shows, it's the streets of Chicago. I want to make it clear how deceptive these people are. During the interview process they emphasize professional development and quick advancement to senior status in 6-8 months. They say it is up to you to put in the work to achieve this and if you're a quick learner you will make up to $3,000/week and eventually open up your own office. It sounds too good to be true and it is. But they say things like "Do you think you have what it takes?" and tell you they had over 200 applicants and make you feel special for being chosen. Then they tout their mentorship program as being able to make you a business owner in less than a year. Anyways I ended up looking at Glassdoor and seeing the negative reviews, so I went into the office and spoke with the hiring manager thinking he would hear my concerns and say there was some mistake since they sold the job as being something completely different that morning. Nope. He came off as being slimy and tried to make it seem like because I had doubts I might not have what it takes. Also tried to make me feel like I couldn't do it because I need benefits to see a chiropractor (and all this for a street peddling job!). I tried to get reassurance on salary and he said "Well I never made $360/week, I advanced in 3 days..." Okay... well what about the rest of us. "It's up to you to put in the work, I can't guarantee anything, you're on trial for the first 6 months and that's why we don't give you benefits". Yikes. The girl who interviewed me that morning ended up calling me at 7:30pm that night sounding drunk and when I told her my concerns she immediately hurried off the phone. Didn't even try to address them. This place is a joke (doesn't even have a company website) and I wish I had known all this going into it.
