three virtual interviews with various stakeholders - none of them were the hiring management (which was jarring) - most of the questions were very general and not focused on what the plan was for the role or where I could add value

I joined the interview process following a recruitment event in Sept 2022 at the UK HQ. I got interested by what I thought was a business with an opened culture within BMC after speaking with a few staff. I was attracted by the efforts the HR and recruitment team put to organize that event: They were looking for new types of profiles. I was interviewed for a UK product manager role. During the interview, I was presented with xenophobic jokes about my nationality. (I’m not a UK national). It turned out that the interview was more a pub banter rather than a structured interview process. I got a negative response. In a way, I was relieved. I couldn’t have seen myself working for such organization. Numbers speak for themselves. It took 42 years for that business to reach $2 Billion turnover. This is a slow-paced organization with old guard management and leadership perhaps trying to change, but only trying.

A screening HR call, a few days later, a call from the VP of Product asking questions about my professional background and some technical questions, a Zoom meeting with one of the senior PMs, after home assignment, and a zoom meeting with the whole team presenting the assignment and asked product sense questions.
