The interview process started well. I first met with HR, then with the product team, and successfully passed both stages. After that, I was given a design task, which I completed in depth. However, in a highly unprofessional move, I was rejected before even being given the opportunity to present it.
This was not a simple exercise. I prepared seven Figma files, covering the full process from concept exploration to a production-ready prototype of a full feature, and even included future improvement ideas. It was a substantial amount of unpaid work, done seriously and in good faith. I explained every part of my process through annotations in the files. Yet their only response was that they found it “insufficient,” without allowing me to walk them through the work.
I have never before experienced a design task being dismissed before presentation. Expecting this level of unpaid effort and then rejecting a candidate without even reviewing the work properly reflects very poorly on the process.

The interview questions were quite basic and generic. They focused on broad topics such as my design process, how I would approach a product with no existing data, or how I generally begin designing.
The interview process typically begins with an initial screening call to assess mutual fit, followed by one or more in-depth interviews focused on experience, skills, and problem-solving approach. For product roles, this often includes discussions around past projects, case studies, or practical exercises. The process usually concludes with a final interview with senior stakeholders to align on expectations, culture fit, and next steps.

Everyone was very friendly and professional. As a result I felt at ease and was able to get my points accross effectively. They took a little while to get back to me between interviews, but overall a very nice process
