I had applied for a position through Craigslist, the greeting and response back from the recruiter was professional, however the interview was beyond unprofessional.
The female interviewing me, for the HR position was boarder line clueless, on how to conduct a full interview.
I had specifically stated my salary requirements in my CL, and yet when she had requested for my salary requirements again over the call, she was left completely speechless. I don't not understand why the ad requested for candidates to respond with their salary requirements yet the organization never bothered to take the time to go through the resume or CL?
However the main reason, I had mentally shut myself out and wish the interview would come to a end ASAP was:
The female representative from Baco Realty was going on and on about how her CFO clueless to human resource department and has no clue as to what they are doing. Instead of creating a comfortable and positive vibe for the company, she continued on about how she is way more qualified and knows way more information then her own CFO.
Advise to senior management: Her introduction and the introduction to the company was professional, yet a bit too long. However when conducting a interview - regardless - over the phone, or in person, keep it short and professional, never put down the senior management (C-Level Executives)
1. Keep introduction short
2. Never criticize your own team or your management (Esp C-Level Management)
3. Ask useful questions such as: Ex: When working with payroll, how often was excel utilized? When was excel utilized the most in your day to day responsibilities? Instead of: What formulas do you use in excel.
4. ANOTHER BIG ADVISE TO BACO REALTY - I can understand when a candidate forgets what the job posting had outlined, but it's humiliating for the candidate to address it to the employer about their own requirements and statements. There was a specific section in the craigslist ad that stated - Potentially Growth in to becoming the - Payroll manager . When I had mentioned this part during the phone interview, she was left completely speechless and felt the need to address 5 times that the person would report directly to her, she has way more experience.
5. If this office is filled with so many accountants, it would make sense to raise the salary. The company wishes for the future candidate to take care of federal and state documents and sensitive paperwork - yet the salary requirements are between $50K to $65K in SAN FRANCISCO! At least raise this position salary up to $85 to $95K.
