Received a message from my portfolio site form saying that they were impressed by my work and wanted to chat. Since my work is nearly all UI/UX, I prepared hours for a Senior UX interview since that was the most relevant opening. So I'm planning for a casual talk about design processes, who I am, yada yada. My interview time comes and I get this text on Skype: "I would like to apprise you about the approach of this interview conducting method. The process will be an Instant text-based interview to monitor and appraise all section accuracy and also forwarded for further review." Look, I know agencies can be snobby, but barf. Any thoughts of fun or excitement about new challenges I might have at a new place - poof, gone. "I would like to apprise you.." lol Alright, now to the best part. After 30 minutes of awkwardly waiting for this possible bot to type sentences about the interview process and the company history, it is revealed that I'm being interviewed for.... dun dun dunnnn Illustration! Something that I have zero skill in. Something that isn't even on my site. I'm thinking, hey... probably doing the text thing so he can "interview" multiple people at once. Slip of the finger maybe. Nope. I say, "I'm sorry. I figured this was for the UX position." He says "No. I thought I saw illustration somewhere on your profile". Quit wasting people's time. It's downright disrespectful. Glad to not ever be a part of this snooty disorganized dumpster fire.
