I interviewed for a graphic designer position and had a awful experience. The interview began without a proper acknowledgment of my presence there, and there was an initial delay of several minutes due to other matters being handled during the scheduled time. Although an apology was given, it made the start of the conversation feel disorganized.
During the discussion, there seemed to be a lack of alignment regarding the role requirements and my professional background. It was mentioned early on that my profile was not what they were looking for, which was confusing given that I had been invited to interview. If they knew I wasn't what they were looking for, why did they invite me for the interview then? The overall tone of the conversation felt dismissive, and I did not feel that my projects or experience were fully understood.
I believe interviews should be structured, respectful of candidates’ time, and aligned with the position’s expectations. Unfortunately, this was not my experience.
