      Entrevista

Bloomberg is one of the most unprofessional organisations I have ever encountered. After being treated extremely rudely in a previous interview, and then having a Bloomberg HR person call me back only to hang up after two seconds, I made a complaint to a senior HR person. And what a complete waste of time, as she was completely useless. She replied to my complaints with “The interviewers [from previous interview] are surprised at your comments, as they do not remember any of the events you described.” And with regard to the HR person hanging up before I could answer my phone: “I have asked the HR department, and no-one can remember calling you on that day.” It seems that whenever a Bloomberg employee acts unprofessionally, they lose their memories, and Senior management defend them. It is quite obvious when meeting Bloomberg people that you are not dealing with the brightest people in the industry. In fact, it is fairly clear that you are dealing with people who were not good enough to get into a bank, accounting firm, or consultancy. I was previously interviewed by a Kingston Poly graduate (among others). I thought it was an odd choice of interviewer, seeing as I am an Exotic IRD trader, a LSE grad with a Master's in Maths, and 10 years of industry experience. I was proved correct when she proceeded to ask the most ridiculous, infantile questions I have ever heard in an interview, and anywhere else! The other interviewers were no better, being rude, and came across as being intellectually very weak. I don't really have a problem with Bloomberg people being a bit thick. But, their behaviour is that of the lowest in the industry too. They act in a completely unprofessional way, and have no appreciation of whom they are talking to. They refused to answer (the coward's refusal of not replying to the e-mail) questions about their turnover of staff – I suspect because it's embarrassingly high. They were extremely rude, and play childish games, all of which is condoned by senior management. I turned down their offer of an interview for this position as a result. And I would recommend to anyone thinking of employment at Bloomberg to think again. I've seen people like those in Bloomberg, and they tend to get the sack, or made redundant. If you fit in at Bloomberg, you are not going to fit in at a decent employer, because this kind of behaviour simply won't be tolerated.
