Started off with a phone screening to set up an in-face interview session. I applied during the holidays so the response was extremely quick, only a day after I submitted my application.
It was extremely casual. I showed up to the store I was interviewing to work in, and met with the GM herself. This typically doesn't happen, but since there were two us scheduled to interview at the same time, the hiring manager was already busy with another person. It was more like a conversation than an interview. There were questions about work experience, but overall there was nothing incredibly complicated.
I do think part of this was because they had just lost an associate during the holidays, and they really needed to fill in the space fast. Another part was because I was interviewing with the GM and she didn't seem as involved in the process as the hiring manager was. Other interviews I overheard later on were all much more in-depth and thorough than the one I was given.
The interview was great. We chatted a lot about books, which was a nice indicator to me that there was an emphasis on providing good customer service. Other questions were pretty run of the mill. Very normal retail interview. They also asked about my school schedule, so we could work out a work schedule.

It was a very easy interview. It read like a conversation about topics I enjoy. No difficult questions, and the tone was very casual. I felt at ease, and the whole thing didn't last more than 10 minutes.
